Experience Cycling began as Williams Sporting Goods in the early Forties. Sometime in 1947 Williams began selling bikes as its main business. The original Williams family owned the business well into the Seventies when it was bought and owned for a short period by Tyke Myron.
In October 1980, the business was bought by the owners of Russ Hay’s, and continued to operate under its original name of Williams. In September 1986, Williams moved to the small mall where Boston Pizza is today. The owners decided at that time to rename the store Russ Hay’s Duncan Cycles.
In September 1991, Russ Hay’s moved to the current location next to Remax on the Trans Canada Highway. In March 1995, the current owner bought out his partner and renamed the store after its prestigious reputation of experienced employees: Experience Cycling.
In 2004 Will Arnold, current owner of Experience Cycling won “Business Achiever of The Year” in the Cowichan Valley for his store in Duncan. Quite an accolade!
A few months later, Experience Cycling was the ONLY Canadian bicycle store mentioned on VeloNews’ “Cream of the Shops” list. To quote: “It would be harder to find more hospitable people anywhere”!!!
Bringing over sixty years of “Experience” to the Cowichan Valley, Experience Cycling should be your only stop when it comes to bikes!
